Note: some SG readings are approximate (from iSpindel) as I couldn’t get the top off the fermonster to get a good reading.
Brew Stage: Completed
Must:
- 14 tea bags
- 3kg sugar
- 3 pkg raisins (individual serving size—maybe 15g total)
- 3 pinches Dried orange peel
- 1/2 package 71B yeast
Read that the strength of the tea should be approximately how you would normally drink it so I made the tea in the teapot how I normally would (approx. 1 teabag in 900ml-1 litre steeped for 10 minutes).
Added 1kg sugar, 1 pkg raisins, and 1 pinch dried orange peel to a 1 gallon pot and filled with tea, one small teapot at a time (a bit less than 1L). Let the pot cool before adding to fermentor and repeated 3 times to make 3 gallons total. Topped up with unsweetened black tea.
Note: I spilled a fair amount of the sweet tea so would have to use a bit less sugar than 3kg if attempting to recreate this recipe.
Additions:
- lemon juice in secondary?
- yeast nutrient/energizer as needed
Recipe Inspiration:
A bit hot. Maybe could use some sweetener? Hoping this will age well
